First you grow up dreaming about race cars at a very young age, you spend your formative years working on cars with local mechanics and German car repair garages around Seal Beach. You get a taste of Porsches in 1969 driving and working on them. You take your love of racing and cars in the 70’s and go racing SCCA and Off Road cars. While attending college to become an engineer you continue to work for a Porsche and BMW Dealer and you develop a deep passion for Porsches and BMW’s. In the process you obtain all the Factory Training you can get your hands on and continuing with your quest for knowledge in your field. You study and take the necessary tests to become an ASE Certified Master Technician. When you get out of college, you get married. Meanwhile the country is delving into a major recession and gas prices are sky-rocketing (sound familiar?). Unable to find an engineering job in this economic climate, you not only continue to work on Porsches and BMWs, you decide to start your own repair shop, continue racing cars, and make a name for your newfound company with fantastic customer service.
That’s how Bruce Powers, founder and owner, came to open his own shop, in Huntington Beach in January of 1980. Autowerkes has been creating loyal customers that value Autowerkes’ personalized service, who love the convenience that Autowerkes consistently provides, all the while maintaining the highest attention to technical detail. The past 29 plus years have seen a couple generations of his original satisfied, loyal customers still coming to him for quality service for their BMW, Porsche or Mercedes. Many of them (that moved out of the area) drive all the way from Palos Verdes, Manhattan Beach, L.A. and from the south in Newport Beach, Irvine, Mission Viejo, Laguna Beach, even as far away as San Diego, to have their car serviced at Autowerkes.
Read a few of the many unsolicited testimonials they have received, call Autowerkes with any questions or, simply stop by any time and take a look around. Bruce and the Staff of Autowerkes are happy to be of service.
